Why repairs take so long in July and August
An AC failure in Lisbon almost never happens in March. Compressors and capacitors give up during the first serious heatwave, which is exactly when every certified technician in the district is already booked. In peak weeks a call-out realistically means several days to a couple of weeks, and if the unit needs a part or a full replacement, longer. Meanwhile the bedroom sits at 29°C at midnight.
That gap — between the breakdown and the repair — is the whole reason this service exists. A portable unit is not a better machine than your split; it is simply one that can be in your bedroom this afternoon.
What this looks like in practice
A recent example, and a fairly typical one. A villa in Cascais, July 2026: the built-in air conditioning failed with guests already checked in during the hottest week of the year. The owner sent one WhatsApp message. Two hours later a portable unit was running in the master bedroom, hose sealed into the sliding door, nothing drilled and nothing marked. The guests slept, the review survived, and the unit went back the moment the fixed system was repaired.
How to get a unit today
- Message us on WhatsApp at +351 935 328 206 with your area and roughly how big the room is. English is fine — it is what we use all day.
- We confirm availability immediately. Before 16:00 usually means same day; during an IPMA heat alert units go fast, so we will tell you straight if it has to be tomorrow.
- We deliver and set it up in about five minutes, including the window or sliding-door sealing kit, and show you the remote.
- You keep it as long as the repair takes. Pay only for the days used — if your technician comes earlier than expected, we collect early and refund the difference.
Who this is for
Homeowners waiting on a repair are only part of it. We do the same for Airbnb and short-term rental hosts, where a broken AC in August is a refund request and a damaged review waiting to happen; for property managers covering several units; and for offices and shops that cannot simply close for a week. Hosts and companies get an invoice with a Portuguese NIF and IVA, and there is a discount from three units — see rental for businesses and hosts.
We are not the repair company
To be clear about what we do and do not do: we rent portable units, we do not repair or install fixed systems. If your split needs a technician, you still need a technician. We are the bridge that keeps the room liveable until they arrive — and that keeps a guest from writing about the heat in a public review.
What it costs
The same rates as any rental: €40 a day, €210 a week, €350 for two weeks, €450 a month, plus one flat €25 delivery, setup and pickup fee, and a refundable €100 deposit returned on collection. There is no emergency surcharge — a breakdown in August costs the same as a booking in May. Full detail on the pricing page, and if the wait turns out to be long, monthly rental works out cheapest per day.
We cover Lisbon and Greater Lisbon, including Cascais, Estoril, Oeiras, Sintra, Almada, Amadora and Loures, seven days a week from 09:00 to 21:00.
Quick answers
How fast can you actually be here?
Often within a few hours in Lisbon and Greater Lisbon, and same-day is standard when you confirm before 16:00. During extreme heatwave peaks the honest answer is sometimes the next morning, and we will say so rather than promise otherwise. We do not deliver overnight.
Do you repair broken air conditioners?
No. We rent portable units as a replacement while your own system is repaired by a technician.
Can my guests handle the delivery instead of me?
Yes, and that is common for hosts who live elsewhere. We set the unit up with whoever is at the property and explain it in English or Portuguese.
Will it damage the property?
No. The unit stands on the floor on castors, the hose rests in an open window or sliding door, and a fabric kit seals the gap. Nothing is drilled, mounted or glued, and nothing is left behind after collection.
What if the repair takes weeks?
Then monthly rental is the sensible option at €450 a month, which is €15 a day, and you can extend or end it whenever the repair finishes.
