Why choose a portable AC in Bairro Alto?
Pombaline buildings of 4–5 floors, usually without a lift, with sash windows and thick walls that insulate but retain accumulated heat. Hard to cool quickly with a fan alone.
Daytime indoor temperature in July–August: 30–32 °C. Worst on the upper, west-facing floors.
Legal restrictions in Bairro Alto
Bairro Alto is protected as an area of architectural interest, so façades can't take exterior units — and in a neighbourhood where hardly any Pombaline building has a lift or a free technical wall, a split is rarely even feasible. A portable walks up the stairs with us and runs the same night.
How we deliver
Bairro Alto's inner streets have retractable bollards and restricted car access, so we deliver on foot from Calçada do Combro or Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara — mornings, before the bar crowds, are the easiest window. Picking up at the meeting point (Praça Luís de Camões, Rua do Século or Calçada do Combro) is free. Door delivery carries a fee based on effort: €15 with a lift or up to the 2nd floor; €25 for a walk-up from the 3rd floor (up to ~€35 from the 5th). Tell us your floor on WhatsApp — we'll confirm the exact amount first.
